The Nataraja Dance Theatre has been created by dynamic, young people for whom their passion for dance became a lifestyle. We share our knowledge and fascination through performances, lecture demonstrations, as well as by conducting workshops and regular classes.
Members of the Nataraja Dance Theatre receive their training in Poland and in India, under the guidance of eminent gurus – Shri Kapil Sharma and Smt. Jayalakshmi Eshwar (bharatanatyam), Smt. Kavita Dwibedi (odissi) and Shri Shashadhar Acharya (chhau).
Actress and dancer, a graduate from the Music High School of H. Wieniawski in Łódź and from the A. Zelwerowicz’s State Drama School in Warsaw. In 1982-83 she has been allowed, awarded with ICCR scholarship – as the first foreign woman to study the art of an ancient theatre Kudiyattam in Kerala Kalamandalam Academy of Arts in India, under the guidance of Guru Padmashri Mani Madhava Chakkiar, Guru Shiven Nambudiri and Smt. Kalamandalam Girija Devi Vijayakumar. She was also the first foreigner to receive the blessing of Guru Mani Madhava Chakkiar himself to perform Kudiyattam in India and abroad.
Apart from many theatre and movie roles, she performed Kudiyattam in India and in Poland, in cultural centers and universities (Warsaw University, the John Paul II Catholic University in Lublin, the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw, Centre of Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, Stara Prochoffnia Theatre, National Theatre in Warsaw) where she organized meetings, lecture demonstrations and acting workshops, showing and explaining the complexity and beauty of this unique art, which survived to our time only in Kerala, in southern India..
