We organize professional dance (solo and group) performances. We cooperate with professors and graduates of the Indology Department, University of Warsaw, who ensure the accuracy and high level of the content of our lecture demonstrations. By adjusting our lectures, performances and workshops to the requirements of our clients, we continuously develop our offer.

We invite all art and dance lovers to learn Indian dance forms that enchant with their sublime beauty, grace and elegance, but also increase the awareness and strength of the body. We teach not only how to express oneself in the complex and beautiful Indian dance, but also we share our knowledge of Indian culture, mythology, classical dance history and tradition – essential for mastering and understanding the Indian art of dance.

Lecture demonstrations

Original lecture demonstrations are a nonconventional way of getting to know about not only Indian dance, but also Indian history, culture and tradition. The term “lecture demonstration” is in itself the best description of the essence of such events: it is not just a lecture where somebody attempts to communicate unknown facts in an unintelligible manner. On the contrary, we create an opportunity to see and experience the aspects we were just speaking about. The program of our lecture demonstrations is rooted in an almost 20-years-long experience in dancing and promoting Indian culture through dance. We cooperate with professors and graduates of the Indology Department, University of Warsaw, who ensure the accuracy and high level of the content of our lecture demonstrations.

1. Mudras – the gesture language in classical Indian dance and theatre

This lecture demonstration can be treated as an introduction to the history and tradition of classical forms of Indian dance and theatre. It is focused on perhaps the most intriguing element of the classical Indian dance, that is the mudras, hand gestures. Due to this extremely rich, graceful, yet complex gesture language, with only one hand a dancer can show deities, animals and people, portray landscapes and present complicated stories, legends and myths.

We offer three versions of this lecture, depending on the theatre and dance forms presented:

  • Bharatanatyam + Koodiyattam
  • Bharatanatyam + Odissi
  • Bharatanatyam + Odissi + Koodiyattam

Duration: 1 h 15 minutes

2. Indian dance – what does that mean?

During this lecture demonstration we answer the frequently asked question: what Indian dance actually is. We explain the difference between the common and proper definition of “Indian dance”, as well as distinction between classical Indian dance and Bollywood dance, tribal dance and belly dance. As an exemplification, during the lecture we perform a few choreographies of classical Indian dance Bharatanatyam and of Bollywood.
